The viral images of a turtle which had an entire singleuse straw removed from its nostrils shocked all of us deeply. Since then, many startups have tried creating the perfectly sustainable single-use drinking straw. The results, although entertaining, were ultimately doomed to fail.
Too many draw backs in terms of usage and most importantly: sustainability.
The mentality behind „single-use“ is what kills our planet.
The best drinking straw does not have to be thrown out. Ever.
By using ClickStraws you are effectively reducing the amount of household waste. But what about the waste that is already in the environment?
Well, we have a solution for that, too!
Together with NGOs in Indonesia and the Philippines we can remove 2 Lbs (1 KG) of ocean waste for every pack of ClickStraws sold. And to ensure maximum transparency we printed a QR code on every package which allows our customers to see directly how their contribution is saving the world!

Understanding the problem
In 2018 we asked ourselves: how is it, that no matter where we go in the world, we find plastic waste in the ocean? While researching we found that only re-use products are truly sustainable. But why is it that multi-use straws are still not widely used today?
The answer is quite simple.
Multi-use straws are difficult and time-intensive to clean. Even after being cleaned in a dishwasher they require manual brushing to make sure residual food is not stuck inside the tube & the brushes themselves create waste too. Cleaning multi-use straws is a nuisance, but not anymore!
We improved a product that is over 5000 years old. ClickStraw: the straw that opens!

A better tomorrow
To finally solve the enormous amounts of plastic waste that are choking our planet we need to pressure legislators to implement a global waste mangement regime. In its final form it will govern the trade with waste and protects those states that struggle with imported waste. Until international law has caught up, there are still things we can do. Most importantly: rethink your usage of single-use plastic, to effectively reduce your waste footprint!

Their narraw circumvence. Our research showed that a dishwasher only cleans 2.7 inches (approx. 7 cm) of each end of your straw. The remaining space does not get cleaned at all! Yuk!
